Concert show for all audiences
The probable origins of human music lie in the noises and sounds of nature and animals, particularly birdsong. In fact, as far back as the earliest human civilisations, sound has always been a gateway to other worlds, and birds were the guides and masters of this world of sound. In the Middle Ages, Tristan and Saint Francis of Assisi knew how to talk to birds.
In pre-Columbian America, the bird was a mythological figure and protector of the shaman, and is constantly represented in ceramic art.
This programme is a journey around the theme of master singers: birds, which, according to Charles Darwin, are at the origin of human music and song. It's a meeting of 'Old and New Worlds', between our European Middle Ages and pre-Columbian America, Pierre Hamon, and the unique fantasy of bird singers Jean Boucault and Johnny Rasse.
Syrinx is both the sound organ of birds and the flute of the god Pan. It carries with it the perfume of Antiquity, but also that of Andean and pre-Hispanic America.
