L'Achéron
EARLY MUSICOrgelbüchlein
The Little Organ Book by Johann Sebastian Bach
The bandoneon is usually known in Argentinean tango, yet it was created in Germany in the 19th century as a replacement for the organ in modest parishes or those who wanted an instrument to accompany outdoor religious ceremonies.
It is these roots that the voice and the viola da gamba wish to reveal here by inviting the bandoneon to join them in the organ music of Johann Sebastian Bach, adapting the chorales of the Orgelbüchlein for this unheard-of, astonishingly natural, timeless sounding ensemble.
