Floris Don, NRC-Handelsblad, November 2011

The Belgian Quatuor Danel, specialized in this repertoire, found the perfect tone with deep string-play, that never became too "fat "and emphasized the frayed aspects of the music. After intermission the last of the doubters became convinced of Weinbergs qualities with the claustrophobic Fifteenth String Quartet (1979). In this piece a groping, touching beginning flows out into a compressed mass of sound, in which any form of melody has been cut out. Fascinating music that deserves to be played and listened to again and again.
