François Joubert-Caillet Viola da gamba

François Joubert-Caillet is today a leading figure in viola da gamba, following in the footsteps of the pioneers of early music by bringing to light forgotten beauties, but also by breaking down the boundaries between music with cross-disciplinary projects (traditional, contemporary, computer-assisted music, improvisation, contemporary dance, etc.).

François Joubert-Caillet has been leading L'Achéron since 2009 on the most important European stages and has made numerous recordings, in particular the recording of the entirety of his Pièces de Viole de Marin Marais (5 books/sets, about 600 pieces, about twenty CDs), awarded Diapasons d'Or and Chocs de Classica.

Professor of viola da gamba at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg and the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Nancy, François Joubert-Caillet also created Albus Fair Editions, an independent, fair trade and eco-responsible publishing house in 2021 (www.albus-editions.com). He has published a first opus of his own works for viola da gamba, Isola, as well as the latest disc of L'Achéron, the adaptation of Johann Sebastian Bach's Orgelbüchlein for voice, viola da gamba and bandoneon.
