La Symphonie de Poche Ensemble

La Symphonie de Poche was founded in 2013 by Nicolas Simon. With Lucas Henri, the ensemble's historic arranger, he gave it its definitive instrumental form in 2015. Around the accordion, the keystone of the group, are the string quintet, the transverse flute, the two clarinets (one of which is bass), the baritone saxhorn and, on either side, the resonators that are the harp and the marimba.

His daring spirit and singular sound have led him to take on a variety of projects: "Eh bien, dansez maintenant... with violinist Deborah Nemtanu, "Le Parti d'en Rire" and "Boris Vian, l'écumeur de nuit" with actor-singer Arnaud Marzorati, "Bourvil 100 ans" with singer-songwriter Emmanuel Pleintel, "Le Ring de Poche" with director Edouard Signolet and illustrator Cécile Pruvot, "Songs" with singer Adèle Charvet, "Beethoven si tu nous entends..." a tribute symphony written by the composer, and "Beethoven si tu nous entends..." a tribute symphony written by the composer. - a tribute symphony written by Robin Melchior, one of La Symphonie de Poche's principal arrangers and composers.
The quality and relevance of its programmes are recognised throughout the French musical landscape. La Symphonie de Poche has already performed at the Philharmonie de Paris, the Cité de la Musique et de la Danse in Soissons, the Opéra de Limoges, the Nouveau Siècle in Lille, the Théâtre de Sartrouville, the Théâtre de l'Hôtel de Ville in Le Havre, Théâtre de Caen, Salle des concerts du Conservatoire de Bruxelles, Conservatoire de Puteaux, Bal Blomet (Paris), Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne, Bateau-Feu de Dunkerque, Théâtre de Cornouaille - Scène Nationale de Quimper. ..

She has been invited to many festivals: Folle Journée de Nantes, Promenades musicales en Pays d'Auge, Flâneries musicales de Reims, Métis de Saint-Denis, Musicales de Normandie, Festival de Sully-sur-Loire, Festival d'Artois, Midi-Minimes de Bruxelles, Semaine Musicale de Quimper, Classique au Large de Saint-Malo, Festival de Saint-Céré...

The release of the ensemble's first recording in October 2017, "Eh bien dansez maintenant!" was widely acclaimed by critics (Le Monde, ffff Télérama...). Its second CD, devoted to the programme "Beethoven, si tu nous entends...", released in December 2020 (Klarthe) received an equally warm welcome, as did its latest disc, "Furiant", with violinist Deborah Nemtanu, released in March 2024 on the Mirare label.

La Symphonie de Poche designs and creates its own tools for musical mediation, in a spirit of participation and fun, adapted to the audience concerned. In addition to open rehearsals and animated performances for young audiences (Quizz de Poche), one educational innovation stands out: the PVC Symphony. This educational project, aimed at secondary schools, gives pupils the chance to experience high-quality, intuitive instrumental and orchestral practice, by making their own PVC instruments (flutes, clarinets, tubas) and learning how to play them.
