Ma P'tite Chanson

Agathe Peyrat’s career is defined by a unique freedom of expression. Although her artistic identity was shaped from a very young age by the rigorous standards of classical music at the Maîtrise de Radio France and later at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, the soprano quickly chose to break free from academic constraints and chart her own course.

Driven by her love of the stage and a passion for theatrical work, she first performed as a soloist in France and abroad in the operatic repertoire, ranging from Baroque to contemporary opera. Her interest in interdisciplinarity soon led her toward more cross-disciplinary projects, blending theater, opera, and song.

Thriving in the blending of genres, she then immersed herself fully in the creative process of producing plays in which she served as singer, actress, and performer in the broadest sense. She has premiered *Peuplements*, a choreographed piece by Flora Détraz (Pli Company); *Tarquin* by Jeanne Candel (La Vie Brève collective); *Où je vais la nuit* and *Carmen* by Jeanne Desoubeaux (Maurice et les autres Company); and *Sans Tambour* by Samuel Achache (La Sourde Company).

Committed to ensemble work since childhood, she performs with the vocal ensemble Aedes (conducted by Mathieu Romano) and the Pygmalion ensemble (conducted by Raphaël Pichon) at various prestigious concert venues, such as the Aix-en-Provence International Opera Festival, the Opéra Comique, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Philharmonie de Paris, among others.

As a singer-songwriter, she accompanies herself on the ukulele—an instrument she took up in 2008—which has taken her from the streets of the Avignon Festival to the stage of the Francofolies de La Rochelle. Whether as a songwriter for the group Inglenook or as a collaborator with the ensembles Les Lunaisiens and La Symphonie de Poche—with whom she sings songs by Boris Vian or creates a program dedicated to cabaret and musical theater—she champions a vision of music that transcends boundaries, free from the constraints of genre.

This freedom reaches its peak in her duo with accordionist Pierre Cussac: together, they bring classical music and chanson to life with the same energy, united by a radiant curiosity and a taste for unexpected encounters.
