The Curious Bards

Since 2015, The Curious Bards have brought together five musicians exploring 18th-century Northern European folk music through a unique approach that combines rigorous musicological research with infectious energy. Trained at conservatoires in Lyon, Paris and Basel, these passionate musician-researchers have immersed themselves deeply in the world of Northern European music, seeking to rediscover and reinterpret ancient repertoires whilst adding their own modern and creative touch. With over 300 concerts and four albums released on Harmonia Mundi (Extradition, 2017; Indiscretion, 2023; Sublimation, 2025; Rebellion, released January 2027), the ensemble asserts a unique identity: a scholarly tradition boldly reinvented, resulting in music that is both profound and joyfully vibrant.
