Manuel Vioque-Judde has emerged as one of the most captivating violists on both the French and international music scenes, praised for the originality of his artistic vision and the expressiveness of his playing.
A winner of numerous international competitions, he notably received awards at the 14th Primrose Competition in Los Angeles (2014) and the 12th Lionel Tertis Competition on the Isle of Man (2016).
Since then, he has performed as a soloist with orchestras around the world, including the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia (Belgium), the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra (Venezuela), the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra (Czech Republic), the Vogtland Philharmonic and the Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen (Germany), the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra (USA), Camerata Nordica (Sweden), and the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra (Japan).
A sought-after chamber musician, he regularly shares the stage with renowned artists such as Augustin Dumay, Jonathan Fournel, Ilya Gringolts, Gary Hoffman, Victor Julien-Laferrière, Barnabás Kelemen, Liya Petrova, Gidon Kremer, Alexandre Kantorow, Dmitri Masleev, Aurélien Pascal, Christian Tetzlaff, and the Trio Wanderer.
He has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including Bozar Brussels, the Philharmonie de Paris, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Seiji Ozawa Hall (Boston), and Symphony Hall (Osaka). He has appeared at festivals such as La Folle Journée (Nantes and Tokyo), the Verbier Festival, La Roque d’Anthéron, the Aix-en-Provence Easter Festival, the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival, the Tanglewood Music Festival, and the Festival of Young European Soloists in Venezuela.
Born in Paris, he began playing the viola at the age of five while also studying voice and piano. He trained with Laurent Verney and then Jean Sulem at the Paris Conservatoire, later receiving guidance from Tabea Zimmermann, Tatjana Masurenko, Miguel da Silva, and Lawrence Power.
Manuel is an Associate Artist at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, a laureate of the Banque Populaire Foundation, and was named an Adami Classical Revelation in 2017.
Since 2018, he has served as artistic director of the Just Classik Festival in Troyes. In 2019, he co-founded the Trio Arnold, a rare string trio whose recordings have been widely acclaimed by critics (Diapason, Radio Classique, France Musique, Classica...).
He plays two violas crafted by German luthier Stephan von Baehr.
