The Quatuor Leonis takes over the Théâtre du Blanc-Mesnil (France) this Thursday, September 12nd for several school performances of their show L'art délicat du quatuor, first at 10am and then at 2:45pm.

On one side: two benches, four instruments, four guys.
On the other: a still-empty auditorium awaiting its audience, who this evening will be thirsty for music, emotion and knowledge: “Who are these four musicians? How did they meet? Is the 1st violin the strongest? Is it practical to play the cello standing up? Why the viola? And many other questions, not always pertinent, sometimes absurd, that the audience can ask itself and ask them.

All the way up: the Wallhala of composers, where Beethoven, Schubert, Mozart and Bartok sit, demanding and raging gods to whom the eye dares not turn.

A string quartet is made up of four musicians: a violinist who has always dreamed of being a soloist, another who dreams of being 1st violin, a failed violinist and one who hates the violin. The Leonis Quartet, of course, is no exception to this equation with several unknowns. So, what brings these four together? And how do they manage to live and play together? Does music really have the power to make everyone listen to, hear and build each other into the “Ensemble”?

Through a chimerical and burlesque “little presentation” punctuated by digressions in which the dreams and anxieties of each of its members are expressed in turn, the Leonis quartet draws us into the story of its quest for an improbable absolute.
