Geoffroy Couteau, piano
Quatuor Hermès
The importance and originality of Brahms's three Piano Quartets are little known, even though the composer completely reinvented the genre. These scores contain some of his most profound pages, expressing both his orchestral power and his interiority. They were probably the fertile ground for his 'symphonic' imagination, judging by the way it is expressed in these three pages with uncommon strength and creative power.
This is what the members of the Quatuor Hermès and Geoffroy Couteau have fully understood, serving them with the appropriate authority but also tenderness in a particularly committed interpretation.
