This recording is the fruit of a successful encounter between the flutist and the Voce quartet, and took place in the inspiring setting of the Villefavard Farm in the Limousin.

On his way to Paris, Mozart stayed in Mannheim in 1777 and obtained a commission for several works from an amateur flautist who was also a wealthy and distinguished surgeon formerly employed by the Dutch East India Company.

The flute undeniably established itself as a solo instrument in these scores, which were imbued with the concertante writing and galant style characteristic of the taste of the Mannheim court at the time. Some of the quartets were composed later in Vienna, such as the jovial K. 298, each movement of which takes up a well-known tune, varied or parodied by Mozart.
