Entre les mouvements de quelques sonates emblématiques, qu'il joue remarquablement, Pascal Amoyel retrace avec fougue l'enfance malmenée de Beethoven, sa surdité précoce (qui gâchera sa vie sociale), ses amours déçues, son caractère atrabilaire, mais aussi l'homme visionnaire, généreux, humaniste. Il rappelle surtout cette aspiration à la joie, qui ne cessera de déborder de sa musique à défaut d'être personnellement vécue. Pour sa force vitale encore plus que pour son génie, Pascal Amoyel aime Beethoven, d'un amour débordant, sincère. Infiniment contagieux.
