Pascal Amoyel entretient une passion dévorante pour l’œuvre de Liszt. Le pianiste y ajoute une véritable intimité, dont il a fait part au public dans le Concerto n°2, faisant véritablement chanter un Erard de 1886, à la sonorité toute en profondeur. Sa parfaite connaissance de Liszt lui a permis de décrire les méandres de sa personnalité, à la fois poète et virtuose dans une œuvre qui passe sans cesse entre la rêverie et la fougue.
