CELLO

The Gospel of St. Mark

With Alain Carré, narrator & adaptation

A unique dialogue between the music of Jean-Sébastien Bach and the word of Marc”

"If there is anyone who owes everything to Bach, it is God. "
E.M. Cioran

In this monologue by Marc, the cello responds, extends and challenges the biblical text. Through the Suites by Jean-Sébastien Bach, his singular voice, like a link between human and divine, gives us the essence of musical discourse. At the crossroads between profane and sacred, it leads us from one text to another, between introspection, grandeur and wonder. This traveling companion ties us to the earth to rise from the shadows to the light.

"Marc born John (approximately in year 3 and died in 68), nicknamed Marcus, is one of the first converts to Christianity and to the evangelization of the Roman Empire by the apostle Peter. He is an evangelical disciple of the apostles Peter and Paul and the author of the Gospel according to Mark in the New Testament.

A gospel is above all a literary work. Like any literary work, it is detailed and presents an author's intention.

"What is the use of man winning the whole world if he loses his life? "

Mark offers us a theological work in the form of a story which allows the reader or his listener to enter further into the mystery of Jesus.

Mark is probably the inventor of the literary genre of the gospels as we know them. After the first version of its text, this literary genre will experience considerable success.

"There is someone in your midst who you do not know. "

In his Gospel, Mark highlights the divine glory and greatness of the person of Jesus manifested in his actions, even more than in his speeches. Without omitting the Savior's teachings, he places them in interviews that are always in direct relation to his works. The impression produced by these works on the crowd is usually one of astonishment and admiration. This feeling overflows with each stroke of the story. The author is completely penetrated by it himself.

"So that they were all outside of them, as in ecstasy. "

By bringing before his eyes a series of paintings full of freshness and life, Marc awakens in the soul of the "spectator" feelings similar to those he likes to note in the crowd spectating the acts of Jesus.

The Gospel of Mark is the most concise, the most alive, the most energetic of the Gospels. It is written in a beautifully simple style. It’s the gospel of miracles. We discover Jesus going from city to city, from village to village, announcing deliverance to all those who were in the grip of the evil one. We see him entering the rich as well as the poor because all men whoever they are also need him. He spreads the good word, the Word, along the way. While the sun is down, it still heals. He is the servant of the Lord who never tires. He continues his task until the end!
