In the moonlight

April and May 1787: the two quintets of this fabulous diptych follow each other very closely. K 515 in C major of serene Olympian beauty, K 516 in G minor oscillating between shadow and despair. Both very large in scale, these two immense masterpieces dominated Mozart's instrumental output during the year 1787, which ended with the premiere of Don Giovanni.
