Barbara - "My greatest love story"

Barbara - "My greatest love story"

It was November 1963. In her dressing room at the Théâtre des Capucines, Barbara was scribbling the last words of a song on a piece of paper. Trembling, dressed all in black, the 33-year-old took to the stage. Despite the emotion, the singer took off and finished the text that had taken her four years to write. The audience was overwhelmed. The record company executives were won over. Barbara's career began. The song is called Nantes.
Barbara sings of unhappy love affairs, missed appointments, ghosts of the past. People found her strange and mysterious, this ‘long brunette lady’, as some described her, with her tragic allure. Yet her success has been immense. She has become an icon.
'

Albane Carrère & l'Ensemble Contraste take on Barbara's most beautiful songs with the elegance of classical musicians and the invention of jazzmen, in original arrangements. The voice is accompanied by accordion, piano, viola and double bass.
