From opera to the songs of yesteryear: a journey without borders

Albane Carrère, mezzo-soprano
Arnaud Thorette, alto
Rémy Poulakis, tenor & accordion

What if Mozart were to meet Piaf? What if Offenbach were to cross paths with Barbara, if Verdi were to be swept up in a tango, if opera were to rediscover the songs with which it is, at heart, most closely related?

This is the musical adventure offered by mezzo-soprano Albane Carrère, violist Arnaud Thorette and tenor, accordionist and composer Rémy Poulakis. Three close-knit artists who love to break down the barriers between styles, eras and traditions, to tell one and the same story: that of emotions.

Throughout the concert, masterpieces by Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Bizet, Lehár and Offenbach are juxtaposed with songs by Barbara and Édith Piaf, the sun-drenched tones of ‘O Sole Mio’, the spellbinding rhythms of Gardel and Piazzolla’s tangos, and popular melodies that reveal the invisible links uniting classical music and folk traditions.

More than just a recital, this show is a journey where styles blend without ever clashing. It is lively, generous and accessible music, where everyone is invited to rediscover famous works in a new light, with the same curiosity, the same high standards and the same enjoyment.
