Schubert - Lieder with instrument obbligato

Schubert - Lieder with instrument obbligato

Since the 19th century, Schubert's Lieder have been the subject of numerous transcriptions by Brahms, Reger, Liszt and even Offenbach... These adaptations transpose these lieder in their own way, endlessly declining the "delicate intimacy" of Schubert's music. The combination of the expression of a string instrument - the viola - with the voice sheds a very special light on these pages of music, restoring more of the mysteries and nuances of a part, underlining certain harmonies drawn by the piano.
The choice of lieder was based on some central works of the repertoire (The Shepherd on the Rock, Ständchen) and some less known lieder (Auf dem strom, Lied der mignon, Viola).
