Reveries and Dances

Juliette Hurel, flute, and Gaëlle Solal, guitar, offer a varied and refined programme, born of a shared desire to play together. United by their dynamism and their curiosity for music that takes you on a journey, they offer a programme combining reverie and dance, with works by Piazzolla, Bartók, Albéniz and Debussy.... Each piece highlights their search for contrasts and emotions, from passionate tango to folk dances.

The programme allows each instrument to shine, with two solos (Asturias and Syrinx), but above all to make way for the alchemy between the flute and the guitar. The journey begins in Brazil with two choros by Celso Machado, followed by Argentina with the great Astor Piazzolla: a transcription of the Tango-Suite No. 2, written for two guitars, then his flagship piece for flute and guitar, L'Histoire du tango. L'Entracte by Jacques Ibert will serve as a light and cheerful interlude, before moving on to Ravel's Pièce en forme de habanera, originally written for voice and piano. This great journey concludes with Bartók's masterpiece, which revisits Transylvanian folklore with his Six Romanian Folk Dances, originally written for piano and based on traditional themes played on the violin or the kaval, an oblique flute that shepherds have used for their herds for thousands of years.
