In the key of B flat, a play on light, the reflection of feelings. A sonata from Mozart’s mature period, although warm and in a major scale, seems tinged with tender resignation. In a minor scale in Chopin, in the sad clarity of a Nocturne or the desperate darkness of the 2nd Sonata, light sometimes radiates: the moon? Someone offering comfort? A happy memory?
