WITH ENSEMBLE
En pied de Roy
Instruments so symbolic of French history, the organ and the trumpet represent the art of "sounding" à la française.
A unique ensemble in the history of music, evoking emotion and synonymous with grandeur.
In this 17th century, during the reign of the great King Louis XIV, a genuine royal ambition was born: to dominate Europe through culture as well.
"France must have the most beautiful music in Europe."
With these words attributed to the Sun King, he set a turning point in the development of the musical corps of the Grande Écurie and the Military Household.
Whether in open-air ceremonies, in the chapel for a Te Deum, or in musical announcements, trumpets were everywhere, accompanying the king throughout his day.
Here, we showcase the most majestic form of this announcement: trumpet and organ.
In this century of conquests, France’s musical grandeur and its cultural victory over rivals such as Italy and the Holy Roman Empire are the focus of this program.
