A brief overview of the Spanish musical landscape of the 17th and early 18th centuries. The programme features works by major composers, both for the baroque guitar with Gaspar Sanz and Santiago de Murcia, and for singing with the Tonos Humanos (the equivalent of airs de cours in Spain) with José Marin, as well as Luis Briceńo, who published the first book to mention the baroque guitar in Paris, and who undoubtedly influenced Etienne Moulinié: the latter, in turn, composed airs de cours in Spanish with guitar accompaniment. These works, all clearly of popular inspiration, with dances such as Canarios, Jacaras, Tarentella, Chacona, Passacalle and Folias, are accompanied by parts rendered for the baroque guitar, the Colachon and various types of percussion.

Accompagnés aux percussions ibériques (tambour, castagnettes), cordes pincées (guitare baroque, colascione ou colachon) et au chant, c'est un festival de rythmes bien marqués et ensoleillés comme des fandango, canarias, orilla, zarambeques, tarentelles, chaconnes, passacailles, canciònes, souvent endiablées, parfois mesurées et tout-à-fait jubilatoires. La virtuosité de Gabriel Rignol répond à la rythmique de Pierre-Baptiste Brioude Dhénain, dont le colascine développe des basses impressionnantes, soutenant l'agilité hidalguesque d'Imanol Iraola. 5…) Au cours de ce joyeux récital, on apprécie particulièrement une grande Passacaille de Santiago de Murcia, la Grande chaconne de Luis de Briceño, ainsi que le lamento Que dulcemente Suena de Luis Marin, qui évoque Monteverdi, ou encore une tarentelle effrénée de Murcia, dont l'ostinato est addictif. Les trois compères se complètent à merveille dans ces œuvres rares, que le public découvre avec un plaisir palpable.
