Quatuor A'dam
ORIGINAL PROJECTSWhen I was Boris Vian (musical performance)
An evening in Saint-Germain-des-Prés with Boris Vian
Novelist, trumpeter, jazzologist, singer, poet and journalist, Boris Vian set the nights of Saint-Germain-des-Prés alight in the immediate post-war years. A true jack-of-all-trades who lived - literally and figuratively - out of breath, he wrote over 500 songs.
The Quatuor A'dam has plunged frantically into the work of this genius of humour and boundless creativity, selecting some fifteen songs and arranging them by three composers for four male voices a cappella. Famous songs and unusual discoveries rub shoulders with Vian's poems and texts in a variety of offbeat and more intimate sketches, providing a unique sound illustration.
As well as celebrating an author whose songs have been sung so many times, the Quatuor A'dam aims to rediscover the freshness of a prolific artist, a rebellious musician, a freedom and resistance to the moral order that is always light, amusing and mischievous.
