Quatuor Hermès

STRING QUARTET

Schubertiade (quintet for two cellos)

with Adrian Brendel, cello

Two iconic works by Franz Schubert reveal the duality of his genius. The Quartettsatz in C minor combines passion and dramatic tension in an unfinished burst of energy, while the Quintet for Two Cellos opens up a space of sonic fullness and inner lyricism. Between passion and serenity, Schubert entrusts us with the full depth of his romantic soul. Joined by British cellist Adrian Brendel, the Hermès Quartet returns to Schubert after their album dedicated to the Rosamunde and Death and the Maiden quartets (La Dolce Volta, 2020). Here they continue their dialogue with this composer they cherish, between dramatic intensity and inner light.
