L'Achéron

In Greek mythology, the Acheron is the river that Orpheus crosses to rescue Eurydice from the Underworld. As its name suggests, L'Achéron seeks to open a path between two seemingly opposing worlds: that of the living and the dead, the past and the present, the ideal and reality.

Founded in 2009 by François Joubert-Caillet, L'Achéron has been invited to perform in the greatest concert halls and festivals in Europe and has released some fifteen albums that have been awarded Diapasons d'Or, Chocs de Classica, and Echo Klassik prizes. 

From the Middle Ages to the present day, from solo viola da gamba repertoire to chamber music, from consort of viols to orchestra, from “art” music to popular music (ancient or less ancient), L'Achéron regularly collaborates with artists from different backgrounds (contemporary dance, world music, electronic music, etc.), painting with the richest and most sensitive palette all kinds of music, regardless of their temporal or geographical origins.
