Les Kapsber'girls
EARLY MUSICAlbane Imbs (version longue) Direction, lute, théorbe, baroque guitar
Born in 1990, Albane Imbs discovered the Renaissance lute at the age of 6, studying with Pascale Boquet at the CRR in Tours. She then joined the class of Rolf Lislevand at the CNSMD in Lyon, where she obtained a master's degree in music performance. Over the years, she has broadened her range of plucked strings: theorbo, archlute and baroque guitar are also among her favourite instruments.
Her work as a continuo player has led her to collaborate with major ensembles on the baroque scene: Le Concert des Nations (Jordi Savall), Kapsberger Ensemble (Rolf Lislevand), Le Concert Spirituel (Hervé Niquet), Le Poème Harmonique (Vincent Dumestre), Insula Orchestra (Laurence Equilbey), Les Musiciens du Louvre (Marc Minkowski), Les Musiciens de Saint Julien (François Lazarevich), Ensemble Pygmalion (Raphaël Pichon), Le Concerto Soave (Jean Marc Aymes).
Since 2015, Albane Imbs has been artistic director of Les Kapsber'girls, a vocal and instrumental quartet that revisits little-known works from the 17th and 18th centuries off the beaten track. The quartet's first two recordings, Che Fai tù? Kapsberger (Muso, 2020) and Vous avez dit Brunettes? (Alpha Classics, 2021) won Diapason d'Or, ffff Télérama and 5 stars from Classica, among other awards! Their 3rd album, released in March 2025, devoted to Italian women composers of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, has already received enthusiastic reviews from the specialist press!
In September 2024, Alpha Classics released Capricci, the theorbist and guitarist's first solo album, devoted to the works of Italian composers Bellerofonte Castaldi (1581-1649) and Domenico Pellegrini (ca.1617-ca.1682). This recording has been hailed by the critics: Diapason d'Or, ***** Rondomagazin (All.), Top MusicPaperMagazin (It.), Top 5 classical albums of 2024 according to De Standaard (Bel.)...
Under the direction of Jordi Savall (Le Concert des Nations and Les Musiciennes du Concert des Nations) she took part in the recording of Juditha Triumphans, A. Vivaldi (AliaVox, 2019) and Le quattro Staggioni, A. Vivaldi (Alia Vox, 2024).
With a passion for chamber music, in 2018 she formed the duo T for Two with traversist Alice Szymanski, exploring the intimate repertoires of the 18th century.
Music education and teaching are also at the heart of her preoccupations. Albane Imbs holds a Diplôme Universitaire de Musicien Intervenant (DUMI) and has taught early plucked strings for several years at the CRR in Chalon sur Saône.
