Esther
Cantique des Cantiques
This programme, celebrating the ensemble's 30th anniversary, is a musical journey where the expressive richness of early music meets the rhythmic and lively energy of dance music, inviting listeners on a sensitive exploration of human emotions, carried by sounds from ancient traditions, nourished by the cultures of the Mediterranean basin and the Near East.
The ensemble creates a dialogue between Latin liturgical chants — Nigra sum, Tota pulchra es Maria, Veni de Libano, Veni Sponsa mea — and Sephardic and Eastern musical influences, in a spirit of harmony and resonance. Each piece chosen is an opportunity to explore the different facets of love: its sweetness, its fervour, its mystery. This repertoire weaves an intimate link between oral traditions, ancient manuscripts and popular musical forms passed down from generation to generation.
