At the heart of tango

This programme offers a journey into the heart of the world of tango, from its popular roots to its most poetic transformations. Each piece reveals a unique facet of tango: dance, song, prayer or confession. Iconic works by Astor Piazzolla, such as Oblivion, Libertango and Ave Maria, sit alongside rarer compositions such as Redención by Horacio Salgán, De profesión by Julio De Caro and La llamo silbando by Juan Carlos Cobián. The melancholic elegance of Volver by Carlos Gardel and Fuimos by José Dames dialogues with the urban energy of 187 Street by Fernando Otero and the freshness of Campanita by Aníbal Troilo.

Twenty years after the success of the album Café 1930-tangos (Alpha), Arnaud Thorette on the alto saxophone is joined by Fabrizio Colombo on the bandoneon and arrangements and Lucas Eubel Frontini on the double bass, two extraordinary Argentine musicians.
