CHAMBER MUSIC

Mozart's Requiem

Mozart's Requiem

Reconstituted from manuscripts of the 18th and 19th centuries, made by two students of the composer, Peter Lichtenthal and Franz Xaver Süssmayr, this chamber music version for four vocalists, string quartet and organ from Mozart's Requiem is obviously quite close to what the master could have listen before his death. The orchestration of the work and the outcome of the composition were entrusted to the students by the wife of Mozart, Constance.
The four singers perform both the solo parts but also the entire choir parts highlighting the dazzling inspiration and simplicity of the harmonic and melodic lines supported by a lighter orchestration.
In the introduction, at this concert, the Ensemble Contraste offers the famous and nocturnal Eine kleine Nachtmusik from 1787 as well as an intimate version of the Ave Verum Corpus of 1791.

With four of the most talented singers of the younger generation, a string quartet and a positive organ.
