The starting point is a striking engraving by the Spanish painter Francisco de Goya with the evocative title Si amanece, nos vamos (If the day appears, let's go). Composer Maurice Ohana drew his inspiration for his guitar music from this engraving and Goya's world. It's a dark, multi-faceted world inspired by Spanish culture, but without any stereotypical Iberian aspects. A century earlier, the composer Isaac Albéniz drew inspiration from Spanish folklore to create musical postcards bursting with sunshine, light and finesse.
This recital takes us from darkness to light, constantly alternating between these two composers and offering an original visit to these two mirror repertoires.
