Romantic nature

With cellist Emmanuelle Bertrand and pianist Hélène Couvert

Flutist Juliette Hurel and pianist Hélène Couvert celebrate their 30 years of musical complicity with a new album devoted to nature in the Romantic period. They have invited their long-time friend, cellist Emmanuelle Bertrand, to join them in recording Weber's magnificent trio, an emblematic work of this repertoire.

In the Romantic era, nature became the confidant of composers. Through their works, this female trio will take you to meet the shepherd evoking his sorrow in the mountains, the miller imagining his near end, surrounded by the flowers given by his lost love and the water nymph Ondine in search of a human soul.

This is the programme for this disc, which will be released in July 2023 by Alpha Classics:

...la souple articulation de la souffleuse, son sens de la nuance et du phrasé servent au mieux cet exercice de haute virtuosité. (...)
A sa lecture sensible et habitée, le piano sans affèterie d'Hélène Couvert offre un écrin adéquat. Raison de plus pour ne pas bouder cette rafraichissante promenade en terres romantiques.

Three leading soloists celebrate Nature in the Romantic era. Flutist Juliette Hurel and pianist Hélène Couvert are celebrating 30 years of musical complicity, and for this recording they are joined by cellist Emmanuelle Bertrand, who was voted "Instrumental Soloist of the Year" in 2022 at the Victoires de la musique awards. Their recital takes us on a journey to meet the miller's apprentice, who imagines his end is near, surrounded by the flowers given to him by his lost love (with transcriptions of Schubert's Die schöne Müllerin), or the water nymph Ondine, in search of a human soul (with Reinecke's Undine Sonata).
