La Symphonie de Poche and Agathe Peyrat stop off in Manhattan to tell you the story of Broadway, from the rise of musical theatre to the great contemporary comedies.

As you walk up New York's oldest avenue, now one of the most famous in the world for its musicals, you will encounter some of the genre's most famous writers and composers: the ‘classics’ George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin, who headline the bill; the uprooted and cosmopolitan Kurt Weill; the unmissable duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, in a medley from the iconic Sound of Music; the successful authors of the 1960s, including Joe Masteroff and John Kander with their hugely popular Cabaret (which won eight Tony Awards when it premiered), as well as Isobel Lennart and Jule Styne with their famous Funny Girl.

Through this new programme from La Symphonie de Poche, immerse yourself in the cosy, intimate and warm atmosphere of the small cabarets of this legendary neighbourhood.

Duration: 70 minutes without intermission
