Les Kapsber'girls

EARLY MUSIC

In the Garden of Delights

Between piety and eroticism...
Through selected pieces, inspired by one of the most surprising books of the Old Testament, the Song of Songs, the Kapsber'girls invite you to enter the heart of a Garden of Delights where spirituality and sensuality come together to become one.
The intimate atmosphere of candlelight opens up a dreamlike and poetic world produced by the musical universe of the greatest Italian and French Baroque composers such as Hieronymus Kapsberger, André Campra, Claudio Monteverdi and Francesca Rusca.
These four-century-old arias and motets are echoed by Freddy Eichelberger's virtuoso organ improvisations, taking us into a timeless space.

Concert by candlelight, 1h15 without intermission with a guest artist: the organist Freddy Eichelberger (5 musicians).

After exploring Italian repertoires in Che fai tù? (Muso) and French in Vous avez dit brunettes? (Alpha Classics), Les Kapsber'girls dedicate their third recording to baroque composers: hidden talents, unrevealed destinies, few of these composers had the opportunity to reveal their art, yet it is very real.

Recent research has brought to life the fascinating works of composers such as Barbara Strozzi (1619-1677), Isabella Leonarda (1620-1704), Lucia Quinciani (1566-1611), Francesca Caccini (1587-1641), Antonia Bembo (c.1643-1715) and Francesca Campana (c.1615-c.1665), who spent 69 years of her life in an Ursuline convent in Novara, which did not prevent her from composing no less than two hundred works!
