FIGURES ARGENTINES
Quatuor Voce
Pablo Marquez, guitar

Argentine guitarist Pablo Márquez accepts Quartet Voce's invitation to explore Argentinian figures off the beaten track. Placed under the tutelary figure of Alberto Ginastera, whose evolution from the very rhythmic Quartet No. 1 of his early days to the masterpiece of his later work, the Sonata for guitar, can be seen, this program invites us to discover an Argentina with many faces, beyond the bright lights of Buenos Aires. Tango, that inimitable ‘sad thought that is danced’, is evoked by the voice of the legendary Carlos Gardel, the raw material for a creation by Fernando Fiszbein, or by the wild inventiveness of Astor Piazzolla in his Four for tango. As a counterpoint to these learned Argentinian Figures, the guitar and quartet play zambas, chacareras and bagualas, paying tribute to great folklorists such as Cuchi Leguizamon, Leda Valladares and Dino Saluzzi, and inviting you to discover the diversity of traditional Argentine music.

J. Esposito "Vidala para mi sombra" (arr Juan Falu / Pablo Marquez)
C. Leguizamon "Corazonando" (arr Pablo Marquez)
D. Saluzzi "Carta a Perdiguero"
A. Ginastera Sonate pour guitare
A. Ginastera Quatuor N.1
G. Sivak "Ajenas vacas arreando, hommage à Leda Valladares"
C. Leguizamon "Zamba para la Viuda" "Chacarera del Zorrito" (arr Fernando Fiszbein pour les Voce)
A. Piazzolla "Four, for tango"
F. Fiszbein "Gardel Picado"
