Trio SR9

PERCUSSION TRIO

Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis

In this program, Trio SR9 envisions a percussion keyboard instrumentarium rich in timbres—wood, glass, metal…—to reinterpret a selection of works from the classical repertoire. Throughout the concert, sound material itself becomes the common thread. Listeners will hear familiar instruments such as the marimba and vibraphone, alongside raw materials, evoking a return to the most primordial vibrations—even to the bone.

The program spans across eras: from the Baroque music of Jean-Philippe Rameau, where contrapuntal lines come alive through a percussive orchestral drive, to the refined French works of Erik Satie, Maurice Ravel, and Lili Boulanger, reimagined through the crystalline resonance of glass instruments—each piece becomes a playground for sonic exploration.

The program also features an iconic work by American composer John Adams, where rhythm becomes a living material, woven through echoing interplay between marimbas and vibraphone—a vibrant energy echoed in the virtuosity of a piece by Nils Frahm.
The concert concludes with a piece filled with melancholy by Polish pianist and composer Hania Rani, which the trio reveals with great tenderness and delicacy.
