Ensemble Irini returns to its roots with a 100% all-female line-up of medieval Marian repertoire. Far from a disembodied, diaphanous image, INVICTAE (“unconquered”) conjures up the image of holy bacchae. The aim is to restore flesh, movement and life to the praise of the world's most iconic and transcultural divine female figure. The 6 women's voices of Ensemble Irini, led by Lila Hajosi and set in motion by director Aïda Gabriels, sing without restraint, using their bodies as percussion, drawing a language parallel to the music that comes to speak in flesh the transcendental love for the “Roÿne celestre” and her “blessed entrails”.
