Quatuor A'dam

The Quatuor A'dam, a male vocal ensemble, was formed in 2012 out of a shared passion for a cappella polyphony and the pleasure of singing in equal voices.

Because the musical backgrounds of each of the four singers are so diverse, the Quatuor A'dam's artistic project is built around the idea of mixing and contrasting, bringing together works in very different styles in a single programme.

The members of the A'dam Quartet - who also sing with leading professional ensembles (such as Pygmalion, Le Concert Spirituel, Les Éléments, Les Cris de Paris, Aedes, Les Surprises, etc.) - put their experience at the service of demanding musical and sonic work. By creating a balanced sound rich in the vocal colour of each member, the Quatuor A'dam succeeds in bridging the gap between Renaissance polyphony, Spirituals, French songs, German Romantic music, Barbershop, etc. to offer lively, mixed and contrasting performances and concerts.

Since its creation, the Quatuor A'dam has worked regularly with composers such as Frédérique Lory, Vincent Manac'h, Gildas Pungier, Pierre Jeannot and Michael Becker on original, tailor-made arrangements.

In 2017, the Quatuor A'dam staged its first show, ‘J'vous ai apporté des chansons’, choreographed and directed by Laurent Cussinet, at the Théâtre de l'Agora, scène nationale d'Evry et de l'Essonne (France). In 2024 he created his second show, ‘Quand j'étais Boris Vian’, directed by Jeanne Béziers.

The quartet has already performed in France and abroad as part of the Radio France Montpellier-Occitanie festival, the Midis Minimes in Brussels, the Philharmonie de Paris for the Ecole en Chœur festival, the Châteauroux voice festival, the Jeudis musicaux de Royan, the Voce Humana festival, the Promenades en Pays d'Auge, the Quotidiennes de la Cité de la Voix de Vézelay, the radio programmes ‘Génération Jeunes Interprètes’ and ‘Générations France Musique’ on France Musique and ‘La Tribune des Jeunes Musiciens’ on Radio de la Suisse Romande in Geneva.

In October 2019, the Quatuor A'dam released its first album, featuring 13 key titles from its repertoire.

Alongside its concerts and performances, the Quatuor A'dam also regularly offers educational and transmission workshops for children, adults and all kinds of audiences. In 2022, it worked with primary schools in Montauban de Bretagne (France) to put on a concert with four classes. That same year, as part of the Kiosque Pygmalion in Bordeaux, he led a workshop with the residents of the Foyer du Cypressat and gave them a concert on their premises. In October 2017, the four singers took part, in conjunction with the French Institute of Nigeria, in an educational and cooperation project for young Nigerian schoolchildren based around French song.
