Pierre Hamon flûtes du monde

Since the 1980s, as a recorder player, he has contributed to the development of early music in France, particularly medieval music (member of the Gilles Binchois ensemble, founder and co-director of Alla Francesca until 2019, initiator of projects and recordings devoted to the works of Guillaume de Machaut, etc.). Pierre Hamon has worked closely and consistently with Jordi Savall since 1995. To deepen his interest in early music, he has taken a close interest in the traditional music of Europe and other cultures. In 1998, he became a disciple of Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, a great master of Hindustani music and the Bansuri flute, and his perpetual search for the fundamental gestures and sounds of humanity led him to the fascinating world of pre-Columbian flutes and civilisations and Amerindian traditions, in connection with nature and birdsong.

Many of his recordings have received international critical acclaim and awards (Diapasons d'or of the year, nomination for the Victoires de la Musique, etc.).

In 1994, he was invited to teach the first recorder class in France at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique, and will remain so until 2023. In 2022, he joined the teaching staff of the master's programme in medieval music at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Geneva. He is regularly invited to give master classes at leading early music institutions such as the Scola Cantorum Basiliensis, the Amsterdam Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music in London.

He is the composer and director of the original music for the animated film ‘Pachamama’ (2018), nominated for the 2019 Césars, as well as the animated short film ‘Jehanne’ by Atam Rasho (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLMeDU2JGnQ).

More recently, he has been invited to work as a composer on several documentaries, including ‘Le Centre de tous les possibles’ by Anne Gautier.
