Ilektra Platiopoulou mezzo-soprano

Ilektra Platiopoulou began her musical training in singing with V. Tsampali at the Neo Conservatory in Thessaloniki, before joining the Schola Cantorum in Basel, where she perfected her skills with Rosa Dominguez and Andreas Scholl. She obtained her master's degree in early music in 2009, then continued her training with Marcel Boone at the Musik Akademie in Basel. In 2010, she became a semi-finalist in the Cesti Competition in Innsbruck (Austria).

Her career took off in 2011, with the role of Virtu in Monteverdi's L'Incoronazione di Poppea at the Athens National Opera (conducted by M. Chryssikos, directed by A. Papadamaki). In 2013, she gave a recital of De Falla's Chansons Espagnoles with the Basel National Orchestra and went on tour in Japan as a soloist. In 2014, she played her first title role, that of the Child, in Ravel's L'Enfant et les Sortilèges at the Basel National Opera (conducted by R. Garza, directed by Barbora Horakova-Joly), and plays Lucilla in Rossini's La Scala di Seta at the Académie du Festival d'Art Lyrique in Aix-en-Provence.

In 2015, she sang the role of Marianna in Rossini's Il Signor Bruschino at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon and took part in a workshop on Rossini's Il Viaggio a Reims at the Fondation Royaumont. Very interested in traditional music, she explores Greek repertoires (Theodorakis, Hadjidakis) and ancient Gaelic music with The Curious Bards, who invited her to participate in their first album released by Harmonia Mundi in 2017.

In 2017, she played Giunone in Sébastien Daucé's Le Concert Royal de la Nuit, which she reprised on tour in Caen, Versailles, and Grenoble. In 2018, she sang Poulenc's La Voix humaine for the first time in Greece, with the Thessaloniki National Orchestra (cond. Ph. Forget) and the National Theatre of Greece.

Since 2020, she has continued to enrich her career. She has taken part in revivals of Ballet Royal de la Nuit with the Ensemble Correspondances at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Opéra de Nancy, the Opéra de Rouen and the Opéra de Versailles, while continuing her recitals with pianist Alphonse Cemin.

Since 2016, Ilektra Platiopoulou has been collaborating with The Curious Bards, an ensemble specializing in traditional 18th-century Gaelic and Scandinavian music. Together, they have given more than 250 concerts in France and Europe. She has participated in the recording of the albums Extradition (2017), Indiscretion (2023) and Sublimation (2025), published by Harmonia Mundi, showcasing these rare and fascinating repertoires. These projects illustrate her artistic commitment and her passion for traditional music.
