Trio Zadig

Bound by a shared vision of music and deep friendships, the Zadig Trio has taken the international stage by storm with striking intensity. Having won eleven international awards, this magnetic ensemble effortlessly commands attention through its virtuosity, elegance and infectious spirit, which permeates every performance. Masterfully creating a blend of splendour and contemporary boldness, they invite the audience on a fascinating exploration of musical depth, texture and harmony. The magic of the Trio Zadig lies in the fusion of their individual talents and their undeniable synergy, reflecting their shared passion and unwavering dedication to their craft.

Miclen LaiPang, a violinist hailed by The New York Times as a “force to be reckoned with”, infuses the ensemble with his worldly experience and dynamic energy. Marc Girard Garcia, a graduate of the Paris Conservatoire, brings a nuanced artistry to the cello that shapes the Trio’s authentic sound. Pianist Guillaume Vincent, also a graduate of the Paris Conservatoire, brings “exemplary clarity” and expressive performances to the ensemble.

Named after Voltaire’s character Zadig, who embodies ‘justice’ and ‘truth’, the Zadig Trio brings these virtues to life in its performances. Menahem Pressler, of the Beaux Arts Trio, has described them as “the finest musicians of our time” and emphasised that the Trio Zadig comprises “three extraordinarily gifted instrumentalists who are, at the same time, true musicians in a constant quest for excellence”.

Their reputation is bolstered by numerous awards, including the prestigious Fnapec First Prize for ‘Ensemble Music’ – a path previously taken by renowned ensembles such as the Ysaÿe Quartet, the Ebène Quartet and the Wanderer Trio, the latter having described the Trio Zadig as possessing ‘superb artistic and technical qualities’.

Leading institutions such as the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, the Singer-Polignac Foundation, the ProQuartet association and the Villecroze Music Academy recognise them as ‘associated artists’ or ‘resident artists’.

The Zadig Trio has made its mark across the globe, performing from the United States to Taiwan in renowned venues such as BOZAR, the Shanghai City Theatre, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Philharmonie de Paris and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Their collaborations with artists such as Alfred Brendel have significantly enhanced their musical maturity.

Their social commitment extends beyond their artistic achievements. They regularly bring music to schools, hospitals and prisons, demonstrating their dedication to the community and the transformative power of music.

Their repertoire ranges from Haydn to contemporary composers, revitalising the trio genre with boldness and freshness. Their poetic sound, depth and sincerity characterise their performances. Their discography, acclaimed by critics for albums such as *Something in Between*, *The Seasons* and *Orpheus*, is now enriched by an ambitious double album dedicated to Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn, released by Naïve in October 2025, further affirming their affinity with the great Romantic repertoire and its legacy.

Miclen LaiPang plays the ‘Charles Castleman’ violin by Antonio Stradivarius, c.1707, generously on loan from the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, with a bow by Dominique Peccatte. Marc Girard Garcia plays an Andrea Guarneri cello (c. 1674) with a bow by Victor Fétique, generously loaned by the Boubo-Music Foundation.
