L’enregistrement de ces œuvres rares de musique de chambre relie deux périodes créatrices du compositeur américain d’origine suisse Ernest Bloch. La rhapsodique Méditation hébraïque (1925) est imprégnée de cette sensibilité à la mélodie et aux rythmes de la musique juive qui rendit Bloch célèbre au début du XXe siècle. La même intensité sonore caractérise ses trois Suites pour violoncelle seul, composées entre 1956 et 1958, qui ont recours aux formes baroques.
Ce titre est paru pour la première fois en 2003.
