Aux côtés de la Sonate op.36 – l’un des monuments du répertoire pour violoncelle et piano –, Emmanuelle Bertrand et Pascal Amoyel se sont appliqués à transcrire les délicieuses Pièces lyriques comme une sorte de journal intime : elles retracent la vie de Grieg à leur manière, de la petite Arietta de 1867 jusqu’au dernier regard porté sur le passé, Souvenir (1901). Le programme comprend en outre deux pièces originales pour cette formation, l’Intermezzo et le scherzo de la Troisième sonate pour violon et piano, transcrit par Grieg lui-même.

Emmanuelle Bertrand and Pascal Amoyel elicit a totally compelling narrative in the first movement. Emmanuelle Bertrand and Pascal Amoyel present an almost ideal performance of Grieg’s Cello Sonata.
